The term mirror neuron refers to interconnected parts of the brain that process the perception of other people’s behaviour so that it can be understood immediately by the observer. The process happens in real-time and allows people to precisely imitate others with focus automatically being directed towards the intention of the other’s actions. Mirror neurons endow us with the ability of comprehending intent by interpreting body language. If there is no perceived intent to the observed action, movement itself becomes the studied aim of the observer. The perceived intent then primes emotional and dispositional responses best suited for the situation. This is an incredibly complicated process that is not fully understood and is unconsciously processed, taking four-dimensional perceptions of behaviour and rotating them with the imagination into alignment with a concept of self in real-time.
